Team WD-40 are celebrating two stunning wins from Tommy Aquino and Joe Francis in front of a bumper crowd at Cadwell Park over the Bank Holiday weekend. Aquino got the wheels in motion, maintaining his sensational recent form with a brilliant maiden victory in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000. Success on a sun-kissed afternoon saw the 21-year-old Californian storm up from seventh to third in the championship standings, and kept him in title contention with three races remaining. Following on from Aquino’s victory, Team WD-40 were celebrating again less than four hours later, when Joe Francis got the better of Andy Reid after a titanic tussle for glory over 12 epic laps in the Monster Energy Motostar. It means 15-year-old Joe, from Backford near Chester, now enjoys a 36 point lead over Tarran Mackenzie at the top of the Moto 3 class championship heading to Donington Park in two weeks’ time.
Testing – Snetterton – 1st April 2013
This would be the last chance for Jon to test the new for 2013 Pirelli Diablo Supercorsas before the first round of the championships. The first session was very cold and Jon low sided on the second lap exiting Russell’s with minimal damage to the bike and himself.
The low temperatures persisted all day giving no chance to test the tyres at anything like race pace. Jon would have to try and set up both the Ducati which he had never ridden in the dry and Kawasaki ZX10r on the new tyres at Brands Hatch.
The second round of the National Superstock 1000 and the Monster Energy British Championships at Thruxton race circuit delivered some excellent results, including another podium position.
Joe Francis secured his secont trophy with a well deserved second place in the Motostar race, recording a record breaking lap time in the process.
The 2013 season got off to a flying start for Team WD-40 in the opening round of the National Superstock 1000 and the Monster Energy Motostar British Championships, delivering some excellent results, including a first podium finish and trophy of the season for 15 year old Joe Francis.
Joe, secured second place in the Motostar race to get his season off to a great start on the Honda NSF250R.
Firstly a big thanks to all those supporters past and present who have contributed to the success and progress Jon has made to date.2013 marks a significant change in strategy as Jon takes the step of joining a team that has a substantial title sponsor and infra-structure capable of delivering resources which will enable Jon to progress beyond the National Superstock championship.
